Abstract Painting Class Recap

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” -Pablo Picasso

Picasso is right. As we grow older we become doubtful of our talent and question our creativity. I wanted to create a workshop where participants could make a painting and have fun exploring color and texture. Class started with a little nervousness on my part. I wasn’t really sure how everyone would like the class or be happy with how their piece turned out. I think I may have sensed some nerves on the part of the participants too. But once we got going, (and the wine took effect ;) things began to flow. (pun intended)

Each piece was so unique and I was really impressed with the color choices and application of the materials We used leaf, plaster, paint, and glaze to create 12x12 panels. Each participant also got a floating frame to finish off the piece and make it ready to hang.

I even heard someone say that they’ve taken several “wine and paint” classes and this was actually something she’d hang on her wall. I’ll take that as a compliment!

Such a great group!
